We have long felt Albany has been squandering its history while other cities are using theirs to bring tourism and business into their downtowns.
When Bill Newman and Dominick Calsolaro wrote the commentary, "Albany's salvation lies along the Hudson," May 18, we were delighted to see local leaders showing some imagination and creativity. At the time, we had just returned from Baltimore, where we had been amazed and impressed by that city's attractiveness and activity. We had visited there several years back, and it has changed dramatically since then.
By now we had hoped to see more about these men's ideas and suggestions. Sadly, we have read only about the departure of "our ducks" rather than reading that Albany was finally getting its ducks in a row and moving forward.
