For two years, we have had a dysfunctional federal government. The friction has stalled or stopped nearly every bill and program proposed by either side. The impasse has created complete stagnation in Washington and little progress in the country.
Some have recently discussed President Barack Obama using the unilateral action allowed to his office to further programs to move things forward. The tea party-influenced House has been brazen in its disdain for anything the federal government attempts to do. But to think of the president ignoring them seems to be sacrilege.
Yet, if the tea party continues to hold its ground, I'm all in favor of moving forward, risky as it may be for the president.
We can't stand still while our infrastructure continues to deteriorate or our children fall behind the ones from other countries who are going to be better prepared for jobs in the future.
Please, let's protect our people and our industry. Ignore the political ramifications.
