Gov. Andrew Cuomo gets a chance to be a visionary for the future of energy in New York by banning hydraulic fracturing.
He can draw the conclusion that any further development of nonrenewable energy sources such as fracking is both shortsighted and dangerous to human health and the stability of New York's energy future.
History can view his legacy favorably if he steers the state away from this "energy cliff."
