It's my hope that this year's gun show at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center will be the last in a taxpayer-owned state building.
The state should not be directly or indirectly involved in the sale of guns. The new gun control law is a great positive step that will make people safer. But allowing gun shows to take place sends the wrong message to potential gun owners. It's possible that someone who purchases a gun at a state-owned building will use it for the wrong purposes.
Those who want to purchase guns should buy them at private venues.
