In their attempts to disenfranchise voters, redistrict states to their advantage and change the rules of the Electoral College, the Republican Party is indicating its weakness. Members lack confidence in their ability to convince voters to accept their ideas and their platform, so they are resorting to underhanded means to win elections.
Many, including members of their own party, advise them to broaden their base if they want to become stronger. They need to appeal to a wider swath of Americans, to the African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians and women who all went in large numbers to the Democrats.
But I seriously doubt whether they can do this. Many Republicans have an elitist attitude. They feel superior to the rest of us.
Attitudes don't die, they say, until half an hour after we do.
