I found the article "Economic split at fork in road" (Feb. 3) about the disconnect between Loudonville and Arbor Hill, both interesting and puzzling.
I agree 100 percent with the ideas put forth in the article. Particularly accurate was the lack of common interests among the people of those two neighborhoods.
The puzzling part is this issue hasn't been raised when districts are being drawn for the Albany County Legislature. Small portions of the suburban towns are gerrymandered into mostly city districts to allow Albany to have a disproportionate number of legislators come from within the city.
Recently, County Executive Dan McCoy has raised the issue of reducing the number of legislators from the current 39. This might also be a good opportunity to draw new lines that match constituencies that share common interests.
