In response to David A. Love's commentary ("Death penalty on the run," Feb. 4), we need to eliminate the death penalty. Doing so will herald in the new age of humanity to man. No human being was meant to suffer at the hands of another human being.
Read Sister Helen Prejean's book, "Dead Man Walking," and if that isn't enough to convince you, then read her next book, "The Death of Innocents." These personal accounts of her administering to the condemned are almost too painful to read, never mind accept as truth, which they are.
I listened to Sister Prejean speak at a convention in Chicago some years ago. The experience was life-changing.
