I want to commend the article "Feuding over flood relief," March 24, about the dispute over the use or misuse of government funds in Prattsville following Topical Storm Irene in 2011.
I have little idea about what the town had to deal with following the big storm. I realize it would be extremely hard if not imprudent to follow all the proper civil service procedures in trying to handle the emergencies such as moving cars and hiring temporary staffs. On the other hand, it seems the town supervisor used poor judgment in some of the appointments he made and the way he ran meetings. Nepotism seemed to be the main criterion in who was hired and who received the emergency funds. I would like to read at least a follow-up story about this matter.
