Letter: ARC salaries should be spent on the disabled

So one of the numerous local chapters of the statewide ARC organizations has 10 managers making more than $350,000. The director and assistant director of the New York City chapter together make more than $1.3 million — yes, just the two of them.

That is outrageous. Taxpayer money for ARCs should be used for developmentally disabled people, not the high and mighty privileged few who are in charge of the chapters.

Instead of just two directors, how many actually useful employees could be hired for $1.3 million — employees who would have direct, positive contact with the residents?

Instead of 10 big-shot managers, how much desperately needed supplies and equipment could $3.5 million buy?

It is imperative that the Cuomo administration reject any and all waiver requests for these people who make more than the $199,000 limits allowed by state regulations, both for taxpayers and the disabled residents who need the money to be used for critical services, not the salaries of a few.
