As owners of a farm-to-table cafe and bakery in Albany, we depend on local farmers and producers who provide us with clean, fresh foods free from contaminants, so that we can absolutely ensure the integrity of our ingredients to our community of customers.
We have cultivated relationships with more than 20 small, responsible, local farmers and other producers who provide us with the cleanest, freshest food our region has to offer. Soil and water quality are hugely important aspects of farming that directly affect everything we all consume.
Pristine farmland and water sources are absolutely necessary if we want clean food and the beneficial ripple effects producing it has on the environment, employment, tourism and our community's overall health.
Unsustainable energy sources that provide short-term gains and have the potential for long-term, catastrophic consequences could decimate our beautiful, bountiful New York. Our unfortunate neighbors in Pennsylvania have born the brunt of fracking industry experiments. We have witnessed the effects, and we don't want a repeat.
The money spent on fracking and drilling could be put to much better use investing in renewable energy technology.
A majority of New Yorkers oppose fracking. Those of us who believe clean food, farmland preservation and sustainable economic viability are of the utmost importance implore Gov. Andrew Cuomo to ban fracking now.
