Given that being a "Democrat" no longer means commitment to making good on the 75-year-old promise of Social Security and the nearly 50-year-old promise of Medicare, I will no longer make blanket contributions to the Obama campaign, the Democratic Party, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee or the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Truth to tell, I was not so naive as to do so during the latest campaign cycle. I will restrict future financial support for "democratic" candidates for federal office to backing the handful of legislators who make and keep their pledges to vote for no budget that decreases benefits in these programs or the ultimate safety net Medicaid, and, especially, to primary challengers to incumbents who have betrayed these traditional democratic promises, as well as to third-party candidates who challenge this corrupt system.
