It is indeed excellent Dr. Robert Jones is touring the nine counties surrounding University at Albany, sharing his enthusiasm for community-university connections, deepening the university's understanding of the region and promoting UAlbany brilliantly ("UAlbany president goes on tour," April 9).

Greene County was the first stop on the tour. On March 27, Dr. Jones and a vibrant group of UAlbany leaders and students came to the Greenville Central School District to hear about our programs from our students. We are the only International Baccalaureate World School in the county and one of very few in the region.

The Catskill Daily Mail reported Dr. Jones said he was "blown away by the focus and drive of the small school." The group also met with community leaders in Catskill, toured Thomas Cole House and visited other tourist attractions in the beautiful Greene Mountains. Dr. Jones' tours focus on education and economy in each county.

We are pleased Dr. Jones recognizes Greene County as part of the region and worthy of his first tour stop. We look forward to expanding the relationship between our schools and UAlbany.
