Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan, who longs to be a heartbeat away from the presidency, provides voters with strange credentials.
As a disciple of Ayn Rand and Grover Norquist, he is the fierce opponent of taxes — old or new. Yet he boasts of voting for the unfunded Afghanistan and Iraq wars as well as the unfunded President George W. Bush "prescription handout," which are largely responsible for the humongous deficits that were dumped on President Barack Obama the minute he took his oath of office.
Then, just days after his inauguration, Republican leaders agreed to operate like wartime generals for Obama's entire first term, working toward their prime priority: Denying their enemy a second term.
Shouldn't Ryan and all the rest of those GOP legislators who saddled us with the Bush legacy be shown the door? If your doctor is proud of having committed medical malpractice, should you really go back to him to repair the damage caused by his incompetence?
