Mitt Romney's criticism of President Barack Obama's measured response is premature, totally inappropriate and politically motivated.
Mr. Romney does not have access to the intelligence information that Obama is acting on. As the information emerges, it is becoming clear that Obama is saying the correct things and taking appropriate action. When amateurs, such as Romney, speak out of conviction and ignorance rather than knowledge, it puts our delicate diplomatic and military efforts at risk. Al-Qaida is known for being the lightning rod of Islamic fundamentalism. Provoking them by giving them any implausible excuse to act is foolhardy, and Romney has now poured gasoline upon the fire. He should be ashamed of himself, and his supporters should well consider the ramifications and cost in American lives that his irresponsibility is likely to cause.
