It's my belief that the National Rifle Association's support of the GOP will damage its viability.
This nation cannot stand the slaughter of some 30,000 deaths by gun annually, far more than the number of U.S. military deaths in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. This can't be allowed to continue. It is insanity.
The object is not to disarm law-abiding citizens; it is to limit the types of guns that people may possess so as to limit the large numbers of people that can be killed without reloading a gun. There is no justifiable reason for guns like these other than for military or police assault.
We also don't want guns in the hands of those that reasonable people agree shouldn't have them.
By the GOP support of the status quo, in conjunction with the NRA, the GOP will bring irreparable harm to itself as a party. History will not be on its side.
