Congressman Chris Gibson recently touted in a letter to his constituents the successful passage of HR 1406, the "Working Families Flexibility Act."
This bill, while presented as a family friendly measure that will allow workers more time off, is actually another attack on workers' rights by the GOP. It is opposed not only by labor unions, but by small business associations such as the Main Street Alliance.
This bill will give big business the right to coerce employees into working without compensation, forcing them to take time off at their employers' whim. Wages will suffer, taking more money out of the economy.
If the GOP really cared about improving working conditions, they would raise the minimum wage and guarantee health care.
