Letter: Clergy's obligation to oppose 'choice'

I was saddened by a the April 23 letter from Rabbi Dennis Ross, director of Concerned Clergy for Choice. It is disheartening that clergy of any religious denomination would support "choice."

In reality, "choice" is a woman's right to choose life or death for her baby. Pro-choice proponents couch rhetoric in terms like "reproductive health," "protection of women's rights," etc. Where is their concern as human beings for the unborn's rights?

As representatives of their particular deity, the Concerned Clergy should act accordingly. One would expect them to counsel women to keep their babies or opt for adoption, providing support and every resource to assist them.

How can these leaders separate religion and the choice/abortion issue? Either they shed their religious garments and hypocrisy or act responsibly and respectfully to the honor given them to serve their deity and emulate their deity's love of all creation.

As "believers," they know they will have to answer to a higher power. Here and now examine your consciences, hearts and humanity.
