I read with interest the article "Bias a factor in probe?" May 10 but was dismayed with its ending.
In the final two paragraphs, comments by Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr., D-Bronx, left the reader with the impression the prosecution had, on its own initiative, released the names of those officials/legislators whose conversations had been recorded by former Sen. Shirley Huntley.
In fact, the prosecution had not wanted to release the names but had only done so after a judge had so ordered as a result of the filing of a Freedom of Information request.
This is an important point that should have been included. To not have done so only serves to potentially further inflame those who see this investigation as unfairly targeting minorities.
I would hope that any follow-up article include the above significant point.
