Try as he might, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's new bill is nothing more than a bullying technique to promote abortion under the guise of women's equality.
While the Women's Equality Act has much good in regard to fair pay, domestic violence and human trafficking, the insertion of his extreme pro-abortion agenda has nothing to do with women's equality and makes abortion untouchable in the state. The bill fails to define who can and cannot perform an abortion, opening the door, in my view, to non-physicians being permitted to perform this procedure. Doctors know how dangerous late-term abortions are and do not want to do them.
Gov. Cuomo's obvious ignorance of the real harm abortion does to countless women is more than evident by his biased statements. Instead of promoting abortion, he should be putting bills in place that truly protect women by informing them of the dangers of abortion and safeguarding them from coercion and poor conditions.
I invite Gov. Cuomo to visit with some of us who have had abortions. He will find what it has been like for those of us who have been lied to by the abortion industry, who have suffered in countless ways, and who have been unprotected in order to appease the pro-abortion lobby.
This bill would not only kill countless unborn girls, but it will also put women's lives at risk emotionally and physically and leave no avenues for them if they are hurt or coerced. This is not about women and their rights or health but about enshrining the abortion industry. It is a disgrace and should be an insult to all women.
