Letter: Politicians must address issues

For the next month, we will have a lot of political advertisements on TV. It amazes me that the only time politicians have debates on what is wrong is during election time; the rest of the time they won't talk to one another.

There are so many issues our government created that need to be addressed. Just to mention a few: entitlements, health care reform, immigration reform, the war on drugs, high gas prices, slow economy, lack of new jobs, out-of-control government spending, problems in the Far East, and the budget. Not to mention: lobbyists, super PACs and big donor reform — because all who donate get something in return and that has a big influence on how government operates.

The only people who can address these issues are the people in the White House. Why are they so reluctant to not address the real, hard issues they created? Why do they continue to increase our $16 trillion debt? Continuing to raise the debt limit is a sign of leadership failure from both parties. The greatest nation in the world cannot pay its bills and has to have assistance from other countries. Why is this happening? Why do they want to strap our children and grandchildren with this debt? How can they do this to the people who pay them and they took an oath to serve?

What is concerning is how they use the taxpayers as pawns; we are only to supply money, which evidently is not enough because they have to borrow to function.

One wonders where they are taking America.
