Letter: Lawmakers right to reject addition

I disagree wholeheartedly with the June 23 editorial, "For women, a clearer path." I am very happy with the voting process rejecting late-term abortion. It was an unnecessary addition to the women's equality bill.

My hat goes off to those representatives who voted for the morally correct position. It was very brave and courageous. I am proud of all who took a stand.

Late-term abortion, in my opinion, is unnecessary and evil. If a woman needs to have a life-saving procedure with an abortion (an oxymoron, if I do say so myself), I would imagine the abortion itself would be a huge health risk factor.

Why is it necessary to terminate a baby's life; why not do an early C-section and try to save both mother and child? We are talking viable human life here. Have we become that cold-hearted?

Without editing out late-term abortion from that bill, our representatives had no other recourse but to vote no.
