Any notion that Rep. Chris Gibson is a moderate Republican evaporated when he voted in support of a farm bill that didn't include the food stamp program.
Regardless of ideology, it is hard to conceive of how a program that puts money in the pockets of hard-working farmers, and food in the stomachs of hungry children, deserves this fate. But this is standard operating procedure for the GOP majority in the House: Unless a program lines the pockets of the 1 percent, it is going to be stripped.
I'm ashamed of Congress and ashamed of my congressman.
