Letter: Israel's neighbors seek destruction

Bizarre. I refer of course to John Dworkin's letter "Fear-mongering from the Jewish right," June 25, a letter breathtakingly out of touch with reality. He writes it is fear mongering by the "Jewish right" to "imply" Arabs "want the extermination of the Jews."

In truth, it is a cold, hard fact: Now ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi's declared: "We must never forget, brothers, to nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred" for Jews and Zionists; the Hamas charter states, "fight the Jews and kill them;" and Fatah's constitution states, "unless the Zionist state is demolished and Palestine is completely liberated."

Further:

Sheikh Ahmad Abu Quddum of the Jordanian Tahrir Party said: "Jihad should be declared in order to annihilate Israel. This is a monstrous entity that must be eradicated."

Palestinian leader Faisal al-Husseini, said in Al-Arabi, in 2001, "Our ultimate goal is the liberation of all historic Palestine from the river to the sea...."

There have been endless calls for Israel's destruction by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority, said in the Palestinian newspaper Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, "There I turned to the Arab States and I said: 'If you want war, and if all of you will fight Israel, we are in favor."

And, Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah, said of Israel: "Its destiny is manifested in our motto: 'Death to Israel.'"

It is not Jewish fear mongering, but the documented statements from Israel's neighbors who call repeatedly, loudly and violently for the destruction of Israel and Jews.
