Letter: Zimmerman jury had difficult task

I followed George Zimmerman's trial closely. When the verdict was announced that he was acquitted, I was initially upset.

Both outraged and satisfied people took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the verdict. Many people were also attacking members of the jury. Regardless of any particular opinion of the case, it is important to take a moment to remember the circumstances under which the verdict was determined.

Six women had the difficult task of closely examining perhaps the most controversial case of recent times. That the case is now getting a second glance from the Justice Department proves there are intentions out there to reach the fairest conclusion possible for the parties involved. One thing that people have seemed to lose sight of is that these women are human and were simply trying to make the best decision possible.

Though I disagree with the verdict, I can safely say I'm glad I wasn't the one determining Mr. Zimmerman's fate.
