"One and done at Cobleskill," July 19, was an unfair headline to State University of New York at Cobleskill, a fine segment of the SUNY system. For every under-prepared student entering college or university, the success stories far outweigh the numbers of failures.
What admissions director, professor or dean can guess which of the "at-risk" students will find their course of study and ability level to enable them to reach their full potential and become a personal "high achiever"?
We were privileged to spend 35 years of our professional careers at the finest unit in the university system, Cobleskill. The administration and faculty shared a joint mission and philosophy: Students first. That has not changed. Each and every student is assigned an academic adviser to assist that mission to a positive end result. Some will graduate; some will change their major or career path; and some will leave the college for another pursuit. They are all given a chance to succeed.
Poll the Capital Region and discover how many successful, mature, family-oriented, capable citizens began their higher education experiences at SUNY Cobleskill.
Please put as much effort in sharing the positive side of Cobleskill as this vendetta-based lawsuit has put into destroying a truly fine institution. We look forward to reading more positive support for SUNY, a citizen-supported university.
