Why is it that "racism" always seems to come into play when a non-African-American shoots an African-American, but not when it is the other way around? It seems that the George Zimmerman case has had much media coverage. Yet, the murder case of Antonio West (also known as Antonio Santiago) had almost no coverage; the 13-month-old was allegedly killed in a gunpoint robbery. No one labeled that case as racism. Why?
Lady Justice is symbolized most commonly by a woman holding a scale in her left hand with which to "weigh the evidence." Her right hand holds a sword used to carry out sentencing. She is more often than not blindfolded so as not to be biased or prejudiced. So why should racism be used to sway court cases or laws one way or the other? Justice is to be blind of all but the facts. Jurors were selected as per the law; they heard the evidence and ruled accordingly. The proper procedure was followed. Can a man be tried for the same crime twice? I think not, according to Article 5 of our Bill of Rights. Justice has been rendered and there is certainly no need for further review.
Reverse discrimination is just as bad as discrimination. Neither will bring equality to America.
