Marcia Pennock, in her letter "Picture of 5-year-old on life support appalling," Aug. 11, chided the Times Union for its publication of the photo. Sorry, but I don't share the same opinion.
It's about time someone brought to light that this is still going on and needs to be addressed, whether by enacting tougher laws to charge those who do it or making sure that those in charge of helping these innocent little children don't let these type of cases fall between the cracks. This one so obviously did.
The proof of what atrocities were done to that boy should make you mad enough to see to it that your elected officials hear you when you say you want change. I applaud the family for showing what they really went through, not what angle an article written about it says.
If it upset you but not enough to make a difference, then I say, "Turn the page and don't look," as not everyone agrees with your opinion of the article.
