I am frustrated and disgusted with the legacy of Gov. Andrew Cuomo that I see unfolding. The truth is not what he and the media report to the people, but in the details, as they unfold.
For instance, there was no need for a "message of necessity" for his gun control legislation. Has anyone attempted to legally strike down this law on the basis of this "message of necessity" lie?
Meanwhile, the Joint Commission on Public Ethics' exemptions allow campaign contributors to keep their donations secret. It allows groups to attempt to secretly influence our government. It stinks, but it allows money to keep rolling into campaign coffers.
Then there is the Moreland Commission, which is laboring under a restriction that wrongdoing must be indicted within a short number of years after the alleged offense even though the ramifications of the wrongdoing could affect taxpayers for a lifetime. This also stinks, but allows legislators to get off the hook.
Finally, Cuomo wants all state employees to pass statements they might make to the media through his administration for approval. Sure looks like he has a fear of being exposed. Do things right and rational; and there is nothing to fear.
It looks to me like Cuomo has cowed anyone who might make him look bad. If he has a true friend left, he needs that friend to give him a true analysis of his ideas.
Certainly, ideas are a good thing to have, but every idea cannot hope to be good.
