Letter: A small lobby's mighty impact on Congress

In his letter to the editor, "Christian right poses dangers," Sept. 3, Norman Dovberg writes how the United States is in danger of electing a far-right Christian president and that members of Congress would try to impose their values on U.S. citizens. He has a point, but misses a more important reality.

Congress is already controlled by Zionist functionaries doing the bidding of the Israel lobby, AIPAC. When the far-right prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, addressed Congress, he was interrupted by bipartisan ovations repeatedly even though he had just insulted our president. It was an obscenely slavish display of misplaced fealty by the representatives of the United States.

Any member of Congress who rejects the wishes of this lobby risks his or her career. That is how much influence this one powerful group has on U.S. policies, Congress and the electoral process.

Even while many people in the U.S. are losing funds because of the misguided sequestration, the billions keep flowing to Israel.
