I write as a concerned citizen trying to make sense out of a very complex situation and the possibility of more warfare.
Our president indicates there is evidence that Syria used chemical weapons to kill its own people; therefore, we should hold that country's president accountable by military action. If the evidence is so convincing, then it should be submitted to the United Nations and a statement of charges for crimes against humanity should be sent to the World Court for an indictment.
If the charges cannot be sustained as to who used chemical weapons, then the world community — as a whole — must address the issue of the danger to all humanity that they present and decide what is to be done.
The purpose of these actions is to bring the perpetrator to justice and ensure the safety of everyone from chemical weapons. Reasoned judgment and collaboration are imperative, rather than hasty action based on emotion.
