What an impressive facility is the new University at Albany football stadium, Bob Ford Field. It is not only great for UAlbany but for the entire Capital Region sports community.
From a spectator's perspective, there is not a bad seat in the house. It is also a long overdue and a fitting tribute to Coach Bob Ford who has been a mentor, coaching role model, leader, and motivator for thousands of kids and coaches over a 40-plus-year span.
I watched the football game on television and was glad to see an estimated 11,000 football fans show up for the opening game. The very next day I attended the first evening soccer game and was equally impressed by the turnout of fans who filled about three-quarters of the lower section of the main stands.
I look forward to attending games at the new Bob Ford Field and UAlbany being the venue for many exciting sporting events down the road. Thanks to all that brought this to fruition.
