I am very opposed to any sports facility being built next to Memory Gardens. Sports fans are known to be loud and boisterous, which is fine at their arenas and such, but not next to a place of reverence and peace and quiet.
Doesn't anyone respect the dead anymore? Where is the dignity?
Just imagine attending a loved one's funeral, loved ones standing in quiet dignity when, all of a sudden, there's a burst of loud cheering and screaming. That's enough to make your skin crawl.
I am not against sports facilities, per se, only ones that want to build next to Memory Gardens. It's just not the right mix. They should find somewhere else. There must be someone out there with some land for sale that is not next to a cemetery.
I pray the zoning board will turn this down.
