President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats are allowing our student loan program to charge exorbitant interest rates on millions of our young students who rely on the program in order to further their education.
Undergraduate students pay an unacceptable 3.4 percent on subsidized loans while graduate students pay an egregious 6.8 percent on unsubsidized loans. Both are unfairly burdensome, especially when auto loans and home mortgages are less.
As you absorb this outrage, don't forget that the President and our two senators continually campaign on issues such as making education affordable for our youth yet have done little to address bringing down these rates, especially for graduate students.
Interest rates at these levels are nowhere near affordable. We need action from our elected officials.
