Bring civility back to politics

Julian Schreibman's campaign continues to print erroneous information regarding Congressman Chris Gibson in their race to represent the new 19th Congressional District. The falsehoods can be proven and are a matter of public record.

"Rep. Gibson is a radical."

False. He's proven to be the fourth most independent Republican in the House. He's a bipartisan voter.

"Rep. Gibson wants to end Medicare as we know it."

False. What ends Medicare is the status quo. This is not an option for Rep. Gibson. He wants to preserve the pledges made to Medicare and the people.

"Rep. Gibson voted against the Small Business Innovation Research Fund." False.

Rep. Gibson voted four times (HR 366, HR 2608, S 1082, and HR 1540) to extend the fund.

"Rep. Gibson's votes send jobs overseas."

False. Rep. Gibson is an advocate for tax reform that closes nonproductive corporate tax loopholes.

Mr. Schreibman could acknowledge these claims are not warranted. While I heard this morning the infamous sentiment "It's politics as usual," we can have hope civility will return and change the political process.
