President Barack Obama won the election, running on the premise that the very rich will pay more in taxes. Exit polls showed a majority of voters agreed with him.

Now, some of the same old Republicans are saying tax rates will not be raised because they believe it will hinder the economy, even though most Americans agree with the President, who wants to raise taxes on those making $250,000 or more.

I have a suggestion for these Republicans: Please step aside. Republicans in Congress should simply release a statement saying they will not oppose any of Obama's economic proposals. Rather than supporting them, however, they will simply abstain. That way, the entirety of consequences will fall on the Democrats, and the GOP will not be at fault if the economy gets worse.

Although when the economy expands, as it will, the Democrats will be proven right.
