Letter: Abortion fight will continue

One could use up many sheets of paper and many hours rebutting the assertions in Andrea Miller's commentary "Pro-choice, loud and proud," Nov. 26.

Her most egregious error is one which the side that favors free and unlimited abortions (the ones who brand as "extremist" anyone who does not accept their extreme position) has been using for years: Stating opponents of abortion on demand are guilty of "willful ignorance."

Ms. Miller's position is the logical extension of Roe vs. Wade, which stated no scientific or medical evidence that a fetus is a human being may be considered in the case of abortion and that the individual woman's "choice" is all-determining. When else has a court given the individual the right to decide what is a human life and that morality and ethics are subject only to the convenience of the individual?

When Sandra Fluke addressed the Democratic National Convention, she surely expressed what will be the tactic of President Barack Obama's administration: To make contraception and abortion a part of the nation's health care system and force taxpayers to put up the money even if it is against their consciences.

For such people of conscience, this is the throwing down of the gauntlet. We cannot accept it and we will not accept it.
