Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a litmus test for his support of Senate leadership that includes protecting the environment and addressing climate change.
Banning fracking is the most crucial action the Senate must take to achieve these goals. Fracking's threats to our health and communities include radioactive substances, toxic wastewater, and climate-changing methane emissions that no amount or type of regulations can adequately address.
Fracking cannot be done safely. Gov. Cuomo and the Legislature must ban it in New York.
