Everyone is looking in the wrong place — gun laws, video games, etc. The mass shootings will not end until we provide accessible mental health care and screening.
Our children are screened in school for scoliosis and head lice, but not for mental health problems that might give rise to a propensity for violence. Even if a child were found to have such a problem, very few families have access to or could afford effective treatment anyway.
Let's concentrate on reform in the most important places first.
