In 1791, when the Second Amendment was ratified, the state of the art in weaponry available to our forefathers required about a minute to load for a single shot, aiming was a challenge, even for the woodsmen who bragged they could take out the eye of a squirrel at 50 feet.
Were those august statesmen alive today, can anyone really suggest they would champion putting today's weapons designed for warfare into the hands of every American?
Further, it's not one such weapon but as many as the household budget will allow.
It is my belief, in their wisdom, the framers of the Constitution and the Second Amendment would see the current interpretation of that amendment for what it is: Not the salvation of the nation, but a growing menace that creates potential for the destruction of families and the devastation of schools and towns and makes the citizens of other countries question our will for good and for peace.
