Letter: More tobacco lawsuits needed

"Widow wins tobacco suit," Dec. 15, describes how Eileen Clinton's husband died of lung cancer and his final wish was to sue the tobacco companies. She did, and she won.

The jury found R.J. Reynolds fraudulently marketed Lucky Strike cigarettes and that the company negligently failed to warn her husband about the possible hazards of cigarettes. He started smoking four years prior to warnings being issued in 1966.

When a company sells a product that kills half the people who use it as directed and targets their marketing to youth to replace these customers, something drastic needs to happen. Hopefully, we will see many more lawsuits emerge as a result of this.
