Bill Howard's Jan. 6 Perspective piece, "History lives, if we tell it," reminded me of a wonderful series of 10 books for young people called "The History of US," by Joy Hakim, published by Oxford University Press.
Ms. Hakim is a former teacher and also a newspaper columnist. She includes many lively true stories, so that the books are both informative and entertaining. Intended for young people, they are still a delightful learning experience for all ages.
