The public has been made very aware of a recent disturbing event at the Loudonville Home for Adults, where a resident was reported to have been sexually abused by a maintenance employee. I wish to publicly state my belief this event was an aberration and not representative of the care provided by the Loudonville Home.
My mother lived at the Loudonville Home from August 2008 to February 2012. During every day of her residence, my mother was treated with competence, kindness, dignity and compassion. The staff shared a commitment to provide the highest quality care in a warm, homelike environment. My mother often said she felt at home there, safe and well cared for.
I saw through my own frequent visits she received excellent care as well as genuine tenderness from the staff.
One of the saddest days of my life was when my mother, due to deteriorating health, had to leave the Loudonville Home. She had to leave behind the friends who had cared for her so well and who had brought so much pleasure to her last years.
Michael Levine and the staff of the Loudonville Home for Adults provide a valuable service to our community. If I could once again entrust my mother to the warmth and care of the Loudonville staff, I would rejoice.
