Charles Coons, in his letter ("Sights only set on being re-elected," Feb. 5), says, "In the end, everything our government does is botched because the politicians' real goal is gaining re-election, not doing the right thing."
This comment is in response to Gov. Andrew Cuomo pushing a new gun control law.
I agree with Mr. Coons that a politician's goal is getting re-elected, as it should be. Because a politician wins re-election by doing what the voters want him to do.
So our government isn't "botched," as he says. It's working just fine.
