Letter: Health act puts women in danger

I am writing in response to the editorial "A Senate snag on women's rights?" Feb. 3, on Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Reproductive Health Act, which would facilitate neither reproduction nor health.

I am a millennial and am proud to be part of "the most pro-life generation yet," according to the conservative weekly "Human Events," citing a 2010 Gallup poll (http://tinyurl.com/be8xqxx).

My generation was born long after the infamous Roe vs. Wade decision. Our mothers had the "right to choose" to abort us. My mother chose life, but many mothers did not. As a result, many children who should have been a part of my generation lost their chance at life before they were even born. That is so unfair and so sad.

Your editorial did not mention the likely results of Cuomo's abortion bill, with its loosened requirements for abortion practitioners and its allowance for late-term, outpatient abortions. They are: More lives lost to abortion, and more women damaged, physically and emotionally, by abortion.

The editorial says there is "nothing radical" about this proposal. That isn't the question, though.

The question is whether there is something wrong with it. And the answer is "yes."
