I was happy to note Gov. Andrew Cuomo is going to make changes in the NY SAFE Act. However, as usual, these changes are not in the right area; he is concerned about his Hollywood buddies not wanting to make movies in New York anymore.
The area where he should make corrections is rethinking what the law is doing to the police and residents of New York.
An AR-15, commonly used in the movies, is a banned weapon under the act. The only difference is the movie gun is altered to shoot blanks.
Why should the loss of a small amount of revenue bother Cuomo when all the protests from residents against this law have not altered his thinking?
Of course, the answer is that our governor has aspirations to higher office. Like his father, it's a family trait. Where would he be with an angered Hollywood where a lot of Democratic campaign money is generated?
