The Times Union is right to call on the Legislature to approve a moratorium on fracking ("Yes, a drilling moratorium," March 26).
A growing body of evidence shows fracking cannot be done safely, and that regulations cannot mitigate its risks to our water, air, food and climate as well as damage to our agriculture, tourism and real estate sectors.
We are hopeful Gov. Andrew Cuomo sticks to his commitment to let science guide his decision on whether to allow fracking. We are confident thorough and objective analysis will lead him to conclude fracking must be banned in New York.
