It is time for Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver to go.
His words this month concerning former Assemblyman Vito Lopez sound like the words he produced in 2001 and 2003 regarding sexual assault complaints brought against his then-chief counsel Michael Boxley. A suit against the Assembly then was settled for $500,000. This time, Silver engineered a $100,000 taxpayer payoff.
How can any state legislator, with the least bit of self respect, keep this man as a leader? They should all be fighting to replace him. It looks as though "anything goes" in the state Legislature as long as you don't get caught.
