Letter: News anchor not a role model for girls

Regarding the TV news anchor in Lacrosse, Wis., Jennifer Livingston, and her "on air'' comments: Sorry, but this entire business of making her some sort of a role model for bullying victims makes me sick.

Here is a public person who receives a private email criticizing her for an obvious weight problem, telling her that she is a poor role model for young women and girls. Now the media and schools are presenting her as a "victim of bullying."

Ms. Livingston chose to make a private email public. She transformed herself into an example, not of bullying, but of self-pity. That's a role model for young girls?

With the nation trying to combat obesity, this woman has at some level tried to show the public that not only is obesity OK, but don't you dare criticize it, even privately.

So how does it all end?

Jennifer Livingston remains obese, self-pitying, and at a much higher risk of breast cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Nice work, Jennifer.
