I cannot help but contrast the aftermath of the George Zimmerman trial with that of the O.J. Simpson trial. I think it can be safely said that more people disagreed with the verdict in the Simpson case. Yet, there were no demonstrations, no riots and no arrests. Those who disagreed accepted the verdict and moved on.
In Europe, there is a possibility of a third verdict, which is "not proven." In this decision, it is said that neither the defense nor the prosecution made a case without reasonable doubt. I think this would have been a better fit in the Zimmerman trial.
I was not on the scene, I was not in court, and I did not sit on the jury. I have no other recourse but to accept the verdict as it was handed down. I think, for the benefit of our nation, we all should.
