I write to echo the positive comments printed at the end of the front-page story ("New sex case ends career of Silver aide," July 25) about Assembly Democratic Majority Counsel William Collins, based on my years of experience as a former lobbyist.
From time to time, I had occasion to reach out to Mr. Collins to ask for his insight on an issue working its way through the Assembly. While supportive of the policy work of Assembly majority members, as one would expect him to be, he made sure that I was aware of the relevant facts and historical context on the issue in question.
I found Mr. Collins to be highly professional, responsive, and helpful — a stark contrast with the portrayal that emerged from this story and others.
